Both the X5/X6 40i (pure petrol) and X5 xDrive45e (plug-in hybrid, 2021–2023) share the same B58 engine block. The 45e hybrid variant also benefits from transmission tuning to optimise how the combustion and electric systems work together for maximum performance.
